Winona Ryder, professionally Winona Ryder was born on Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter the city she grew up in after her birthplace. Michel Horowitz is her father as well as Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder's parents have both been Jewish. Ryder believes herself to being Jewish. The actress has also a half-sister named Sunyata Jubal. Ryder's younger sibling is Uria. At the age of seven, Ryder was only seven her family relocated to Mendocino County California. In those days, there wasn't electricity. Ryder was a voracious reader and spent her time reading books as there was no television. Ryder was 12 when she enrolled at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. In the year she turned 15years old, Ryder was offered her first part onscreen, playing Lucas. Ryder was bullied in high school. Ryder believed that her future as an actress could bring about change. However, it didn't take place. However, it didn't stop her from pursuing dreams. Beetlejuice which was a 1988 Tim Burton film, was her first major break. Ryder was able to continue her successful performances in several movies. In 1993, he was nominated two times for the Academy Awards.
